FADE IN:
2 INT. JAY AND NIKKI’S BEDROOM - JAY’S HOUSE -- MORNING 2
Jay wakes up drowsy and achy, with a pain in the back of his head; he checks the time on his watch.
Jay wearily tries to get out of bed, he pauses and sits on the edge staring at the window.
WIDE SHOT OF JAY STARING AT THE WINDOW
LOW ANGLE CLOSE UP FROM FLOOR OF JAY WALKING OUT OF THE ROOM
He walks down the hall to the bathroom. A light flickers, he taps it, and the light still proceeds
to flicker, Jay hears a noise, distant yet somehow familiar.
VOICE
Don't take them, vile, soiled
Jay ignores it and proceeds to enter the bathroom.
3 INT. BATHROOM 3
Jay goes over to the cabinet above the toilet and takes out a bottle of pills. “Invega” and
“Schizophrenia” are printed on the side along with the instructions. He steps over to the sink and
gazes into the mirror, contemplating whether to take his medication.
VOICE
Don’t do it.
JUMP CUT TO:
4 INT. HALLWAY 4
Jay walks down the hallway. Not noticing that the light has stopped flickering.
JAY
(Raised Voice) Nik? Leo? Anyone here?
Jay again hears a voice, this time it is coming from the kitchen. He decides to investigate.

5 INT. KITCHEN 5
Jay walks into the kitchen, the sun glaring through the window blinds Jay for a few seconds. Leo is
cooking bacon, eggs and various other food for breakfast; Nikki is sitting at the table, drinking a
glass of orange juice. Both are around 20; Leo is handsome, charming and well dressed;
Nikki is beautiful in her own way, quiet and timid.
LEO
Ah, here he is, sleeping beauty!
Jay walks over to the table where Nikki is sitting.
NIKKI
Hey you.
JAY
Hi.
Jay bends down and kisses Nikki.
LEO
Where’s mine? Do I get a nice hello?
JAY
Morning Leo.
Jay sits down, Leo pours him a cup of tea.
LEO
So where the hell were you last night?
Leo sits down at the table with his breakfast in his hand.
CLOSE UP OF JAY DRINKING TEA LOOKING IN PAIN.
JAY
You know where I was...
LEO
In bed I bet, ah well, missed a decent night.
The pain in the back of Jay’s head gets worse.
NIKKI
You alright? You look a bit pale.
JAY
I'm not feeling great. I’m going back to bed.
Jay slowly begins to get out of his chair.
LEO
What!? Were meant to be going out today!
Jay phases out of the conversation, only hearing what is in his head.
EXTREME CLOSE UP OF JAY’S EYES.
VOICE
Why trust them? They hate you.
OVERHEAD SHOT OF CUP OF TEA SWIRLING.
LEO
Jay!?
NIKKI
Leave him alone, can’t you see that he’s not well.
Jay rushes out of the kitchen, the door slamming behind him.
NIKKI (CONT’D)
Jay?
6 INT. JAY AND NIKKI’S BEDROOM - JAY’S HOUSE -- MORNING,NEXT DAY
Jay is woken up with a shock, as if he was in a nightmare, hearing screams that sound like Nikki.
He suddenly rises up from his bed in fear.
JAY
Nikki! Nikki!
7 INT. BATHROOM 7
Jay is standing in front of the mirror, staring at himself.
VOICE
She’s not here...Not around...hates you.
8 INT. LIVING ROOM 8
Nikki is sprawled out on the sofa watching the TV with the volume on maximum. Jay walks in, tired
and aggravated.
JAY
Turn it down, it’s bloody loud.
Nikki picks up the remote and quickly turns down the TV.
NIKKI
Sorry. How’s your head? Feeling any better?
JAY
Worse.
Jay takes his coat off the hanger and puts it on in a rush.
NIKKI
Where are you going?
JAY
Out.
Jay hears a knock on the door, he cautiously walks towards it. He hears it again, and again.
Getting more repetitive and louder until the point it becomes unbearable. He can see a silhouette
of Leo in the frosted glass door. Jay quickly opens the door and finds that no one is there.
CLOSE UP OF JAY’S REACTION WITH LEO BEHIND HIM.
Leo creeps up behind Jay without him realising.
LEO
What you doing?
JAY
Going out.
Jay gently closes the door as he walks out.
9 EXT. LAKE - DAY 9
Jay is sitting on a bench in front of a lake, trying to calm his mind. For the first time in the
past few days he can’t hear any voices.
Jay picks up a stone and throws it into the lake. Out of nowhere he can hear footsteps.
VOICE
What is he doing?
VOICE 2
What’s wrong with him?
He begins to hear people talking about him, but no one is around. The voices begin to get more
frequent and louder.
VOICE
What a loser.
VOICE 2
Loner.
VOICE 3
Got problems.
The voices OVERWHELM Jay, he holds his head in his hands in ANGER.
JAY
(Quietly) Shut up. Shut up. Shut up.
The voices get progressively louder and violent that he can’t understand them anymore.
JAY (CONT’D)
(Screams) Shut up!
Jay in anger slams his hands down on the bench and frantically gets up; he begins to run home with
the voices still toying with his mind.
He sprints past a church and into a graveyard, tripping and stumbling as he runs.
Voices laugh at him.
JAY (CONT’D)
Leave me alone!
In the distance Jay can see a figure to his left and another to his right. As he gets closer he can
see that it is Leo and Nikki. Nikki is crying while Leo is laughing.
In shock and confusion, Jay falls to the ground. When he pulls himself up they have gone.
10 EXT. JAY’S HOUSE - AFTERNOON 10
Jay sprints towards his front door, panting and out of breath. Heart is beating rapidly and loudly,
voices out of control in his mind.
Jay bursts through the front door.
11 INT. HALLWAY - JAY’S HOUSE 11
As the door slams behind Jay the voices suddenly stop. He puts his back against the door, trying to catch his breath. All we can hear is his heart beating.
Jay wearily wanders into the living room.
12 INT. LIVING ROOM 12
The TV has been left on, as Jay walks through the room he hears a voice.
ADVERT
Waste of space
He turns around and a presenter on an advert is talking to him.
ADVERT (CONT’D)
What you looking at?
He begins to hear voices all around him.
VOICE
Look over here?
VOICE 2
No over here?
VOICE 3
Oi! Loser.
ADVERT
Stop wasting space and buy one of these new storage units!
Jay frantically looks around, getting worked up by the voices playing with him.
JAY
(Shouts) Just stop!
A hand (Nikki) reaches out and touches his shoulder. Not knowing who it is he turns around and
pushes them away.
Nikki trips over and falls onto the edge of a glass coffee table, cutting her head open and
knocking her unconscious.
All of the voices end, Jay still in shock of what he has done, falls to his knees. He lays Nikki in
his arms, not knowing what to do.
Leo is standing in the doorway. Jay looks up towards Leo.
LEO
What are you doing?
SHOT REVERSE SHOT BETWEEN LEO AND JAY.
Leo looks down at his arms where Nikki was and there is no one there.
FADE TO BLACK.
