Final Treatment

"Lay Your Love In Stone"
With valentine's day approaching Liverpool's lost in love, and to commemorate this joyous occasion the Liverpool cathedral have offered a service for couples to lay there love in stone. So really there's only one question to ask 'what do you love?
The idea we have developed from this subject is to discover how people react to the premises of love. Everyone has a different interpretation of the meaning of love. The beginning of the documentary will begin with shots of Valentine's Day related things (love hearts, Flowers).
The bulk of our documentary will be spontaneous interviews with the public asking them "what do you love?" We are hoping this will provide us with a true picture of what love really means. To begin the documentary we want to interview the owner of the cathedral, giving indications to what the documentary will be about. Following that we will have spontaneous interviews with different contributors joining with cutaways of what they love. For example if they love chips, then we will cutaway to a shot of some chips. To end the documentary we want to have the cathedral owner to say what he loves but then give the dictionary definition of love.
Our documentary will be trying to express the idea of love and the way that this translates to the people of Liverpool, They will be telling the story of our documentary.
The mood we aim to create is a happy and vibrant attitude towards love. This may change as the answers that we get from the contributors may portray a different attitude. The techniques that we want to use are the same of that in "Pockets" the documentary that was seen in the seminar. We want to have lots of tight locked close up shots which will engage the audience to the contributor. The use of shallow depth of field will allow us as film makers to draw the audience's attention to the details, the use of DSLR's will aid us in this aspect have they have a very good range when it comes to depth of field. We want to experiment with the use of sync and non-sync sound using the voice of the contributor over shots of the items/ things they love, this creates an aesthetically pleasing piece. It also breaks up the interviews and stops the audience getting board of the same shot of people talking. For the lighting we are aiming to get a bright, heavenly atmosphere using the outside lighting but then highlighting it using a halo LED light and an on top camera light to add brightness.
We want to get a varied range of contributors but we are unable to specify who they are as we will be finding them spontaneously on location. We are aiming to get a range of ages and ethnicities. A few examples would be:

·         An innocent child who doesn't know what love is.
·         A young couple who are awkward to answer when they look at each other.
·         An old married couple who love each other dearly.
·         Two sisters (ideally twins) that respond with the same answer.
·         A homeless person who loves his dog more than anything.
·         A businessman who loves his possessions.
·         Teenagers with varied responses.
·         Religious individuals such as Muslims and Christians.

We want to get a complete range of people from all walks of life.
We want this documentary to be aimed at all audiences we will achieve this by getting a perspective from all kinds of people to give us a broad range of interesting subjects. We envisage our work to be viewed online on vimeo / YouTube and possibly be entered into competitions such as the Docufest.
